Are some versions of DNN more "stable" than others?  Sort of in the way Windows 3.11 and 2000 seemed to hang around longer than Windows ME and 3.0...

I'm just curious, if one were not always upgrading to the latest version of DNN, what the community perceived as more stable.

I would not recommend any version other than 4.4.1 right now.  4.4.1 has the built in compression which is a noticeable performance boost.  One minor issue is that you need to add webresource.axd to the compression exclude list manually.  Other than that it seems very solid to me.

You should try to stay current (if not for the bug fixes and improved functionality) because if you are not running the latest version you may be open to security vulnerabilities that have been corrected in later releases.

DNN 4.4.0 and higher have the performance gains that make it hard to consider using any other version. They are just plain faster and for my 10 or so sites they are stable.

security vulnerabilities aside (they have so far been a non-issue), 3.2.2 has been rock solid for us.

Let's hear it for 2.1.2.  It's good as gold.
