Upgraded from 4.0.3 to 4.4.1 last night.  We run DNN on a web farm, seemed like one of the other servers was getting these errors intermittantly, we took it down to one server and now we're getting fewer errors, but it's still happening.  Refreshing the browser a few times seems to cure it for a moment.

We've been running like this on one server all day.  I'm beginning to suspect the cache settings.  Its still happening, but seems to be more often related to edits to the site when logged in as admin or host.  Here are the current performance seetings.

I've been deperately searching for recommendations on settings but can't seem to find anything.  Again, we're down to one server in the web farm and want to resolve this issue and bring the other servers back online.

What has been  really eye opening is that even with just the one web server, the performance today has been amazing.  The web server is running around 40% processor on average (was running at 80%+ on 4.0.3) and most impressive is that the SQL Server (seperate machine) is running at 10% processor (instead of 80% - 90%).  We're running faster with a smaller footprint on fewer machines by moving to 4.4.1.  Once this issue is resolved we can breath again and really fly.

Have you read the webfarm document @ http://www.dotnetnuke.com/About/Documentation/ProjectDocuments/tabid/478/Default.aspx . I notice it hasn't been updated for the new 4.4+ settings, but I believe that you should be using disk to store cache, as the webfarm setup will then syncronise the disk cache across all the webfarms, whereas memory storage is localised to the server itself.

Good to hear that 4.4.1 has had such a performance boost for you.

Yes, we're familiar with that doc.  Let me look into that.

I switched it but no change.  Thanks for the idea.  I have another thread on this same subject started in the Benefactor section.    Don't want to post in the wrong place.

Any other ideas?
