Alright, one of my portals simply comes up with an error message when I try to access it. It doesn't tell me what the error was(though I suspect it was caused by the most recent module I uploaded), it just says that an error has occurred and I can't access the page.

I haven't done anything important on this portal yet, I've just been using it to test stuff mostly. So I was just going to delete the portal. To do that, I logged into one of my other portals and selected "Portals" from the host tab/menu. I then clicked the "X' and "OK" that I was sure I wanted to delete it. Here's the message I got:

Error: Portals is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Access to the path 'E:\kunden\homepages\4\d193083900\logs' is denied. ---> System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'E:\kunden\homepages\4\d193083900\logs' is denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.Directory.InternalGetFileDirectoryNames(String path, String userPathOriginal, String searchPattern, Boolean includeFiles, Boolean includeDirs, SearchOption searchOption) at System.IO.Directory.GetDirectories(String path, String searchPattern, SearchOption searchOption) at System.IO.Directory.GetDirectories(String path) at DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.DeleteFilesRecursive(String strRoot, String filter) at DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.DeleteFilesRecursive(String strRoot, String filter) at DotNetNuke.Entities.Portals.PortalController.DeletePortal(PortalInfo portal, String serverPath) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Portals.Portals.grdPortals_DeleteCommand(Object source, DataGridCommandEventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

What do I need to do?

Hmm... I had been hoping this was a question that would be easily(and thus quickly) answered. I guess not.

I guess if there's no answer by the time I get home tomorrow, I'll start messing with things more than I have so far. I'm just not quite comfortable enough yet to really mess with stuff when something like this happens before asking for advice.

The error you are getting is due to the ASP.NET worker process not having access to the specified path.  If you grant access to the process for the listed path you should be able to get past the error.

My host (DailyRazor) said that granting necessary rights so that DNN can create and delete child portals is not recomended due to security reasons.

Is there anything I can do to reduce this risk or is it something I'll have to live with?

Personally I have not heard of a host being concerned about the security risk.......I'd switch to a different host.
