We're using a number of repositories on DNN 4.4.1 with the fck editor installed - e.g. see http://www.parkrun.com/bptt_articles.aspx

When we try to add a flash movie to the summary or description field, then everything works well in the editor.... but before committing to the database, "something" removes it...

Currently I'm working around this by direct manual insertion into the database, but I'd quite like to understand what the potblem is....

Any advice or help appreciated. Thanks!

yes, for security reasons, potentially harmful script is removed from the summary and description fields prior to uploading the data. Otherwise, someone could put your web site at serious risk. If you need to implement video you'll have to do it in the Repository template, then you can upload the movie file and display it in the Repository. See the 'video' template for an example.

Thanks for the explanation.

How do I log the inclusion of remotely hosted Flash as a feature request - maybe as an option on the repository settings? For us (and I guess some other people) we can definitely accept the security risk of displaying Flash movies - especially in return for the functionality that showing YouTube movies would give us.

No enhancement should be necessary, the current Repository templating system should allow you to embed flash videos in your Repository header (header.html/header.xml) and/or items (template.html/template.xml) or footer (footer.html/footer.xml)

Look at the video template sample. It allows you to show remotely hosted videos, you just upload the URL to the video file and the video is played inline using the Windows Media Player. Copy the video template, rename it to something like 'flashVideo', modify the template.html file to generate the flash player code and then set the template for your repository to use your new flashVideo template.

Thanks again but it's not quite what I'd ideally need - as I'm looking more for putting Flash (YouTube) videos in occasional repository entries - not is every repository entry.... e.g. take a look at www.parkrun.com/bptt_articles.aspx?

Given that we've already done some odd things with Javascript and Attribute tags to customise individual repository entries, then I think we might also do something similar to squeeze YouTube movies in too.... I'll think about it some more...

Thanks again for taking the time to answer me!

(There is also a slight suspicion in my mind I should be using a Blog type system anyway1)
