I have a DNN 4.3.7 installation running fine (mainsite.com) at WebHost4Life. I added a parent portal (parent.com) and it appears to be set up properly in DNN (for example, it appears in the SQL tables, a folder exists portals/2). In IIS, I pointed parent.com to the mainsite.com/default.aspx folder. I thought that this would do it but I am getting a runtime error. By the way, parent.com runs fine outside of the DNN installation. I am very new at this, and did buy the DNN4 book, but it did not help with this problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I can't explain this, but I was unable to see this site (kept getting runtime errors) until I used the url with default.aspx at the end.  This fixed it!  Now I can access the site without typing default.aspx.  Also, I had failed to set the domain root to use ASP 2.0.  Hope this helps someone.

I am not  an expert but I was having the same problem abd here someone told me that you should point parentsite.com to mainsite.com directly so it looks like portal alias in your control panel

it helped me
