Hello...

I'm a .NET developer and am new to DNN. I have DNN 4.0.1 running and want to install the Blog module, however I see in an earlier post the the blog will not run in version 4.0.1 ..only in 4.0.2. My questions are these:

  1. Where can I get 4.0.2? I only see 4.0.1 available on this site.
  2. Is there a standard method to install a module or does the install method vary depending on the module?
  3. Where can I find module installation instructions/tutorial?
  4. Am I better off installing a 3.x version of DNN? It seems there are many issues with 4.x versions.

Thanks for any replies to my DDN Newbie questions!

You find the link to the downloads on the download page

click here at the top of the site you find the links for version 4.0.2

The installation is the same for all modules and all version. Log in as host open the menu "host - module definition" and click the link add a new module.

For general information about dotnetnuke and installing modules you can download the documentation the link is also on the download page.

I have tested the version 4.0.2 and it seems to be stable enough to use this version without any trouble. If you like to install a 3.X version use version 3.1.1 or 3.2.2.

Ok...thanks. I forget that I have to log in to see that stuff. I'm surprised there is no mention of the 4.0.2 version on the homepage.

Anyway, has anyone upgraded from 4.0.1 yet? Is is simply replacing a dll or are there ascx and/or database chagnes as well. What is the best way to go from 4.0.1 to 4.0.2? I have my 4.0.1 configured the way I like and I'd like to avoid re-working it but I also need the forum and blog modules...

Many thanks..

The upgrade from 4.01 to 4.0 2 works as any DotNetNuke upgrade, it is very similar to the installation procedure.

Best is you read the dotnetnuke installation guide which is available in the documentation.

Alright...I was just hoping that it would be only a dll copy or just replacing a couple of files w/o having to go through an entire install process. 4.0.1 to 4.0.2 seems to indicate a relatively minor change.
