Are there any plans to add a join feature to the UDT? I think of UDT as being like a SharePoint List, as it competes very nicely for ease of use and configuration. However, the one key feature that SharePoint offers which DNN UDTs don't, yet, is the ability to use one UDT as a lookup data source for one of the columns in another UDT.

Have you considered adding this feature?

First, a Lookup does not need a JOIN. UDT has the option to define a static lookup list by entering the values into "extended settings", delimited with ";".

Regarding lookup from other instances, AFAIR there was a user, who added this feature in his personally extended version.

Yeah, I know about static lists... that's handy for things like Male/Female/Unspecified types of fields, but I looking for something more, that a typical user can update without requiring support from me.

I also know that I can just write the code to do it. I may end up doing that, but I still think that is a compelling feature that shouldn't be too difficult to incorporate into the official module and would really go along way toward making the UDT into the most powerful module in DNN.

Anyway, it sounds like you're not planning to do so, and that's fine; it's your module.

there are no plans to add it into the next versions, we currently plan into other directions (I will blog about in a few weeks).

I have modified UDT to support relationship between tables and lookups on other SQL tables. I suspect the UDT project team can not support this functionality because of security concerns in shared portal environment. In any case I can package up my modified UDT version if it would be helpful to your needs.
