I need to be able to bulk load users into DNN 4 and I'm searching for a reliable module to do so. My efforts so far have been discouraging.

I originally used the predecessor to DNNMasters tool and it seems very picky, and I had trouble getting it to work reliably. I then tried Bulk User import, and I managed to finally get it to work on 3.2 after many struggles. Both tools seemed to do zero error checking on import data and would just punt if something was wrog instead of giving a reasonable error message.

Since I've upgraded the site to 4.3, then to 4.4, Bulk User Import 3.6.5 is no longer working and the vendor is non-responsive, basically saying "tough, it works for me".

Does the current DNN Master tool work RELIABLY, or is there another tool that actually runs? After blowing money on two modules that have basically never worked consistently I reallly want something that works this time.

At this time I have not heard of any reports of a good working batch import/export module for 4.4.x.  It might be worth looking at building one yourself as it does appear to be a very popular item in the DNN community.

Keith,

We are finalizing several modules to migrate users from 3.x to 4.x and 4.x to 4.x.
The process will be painless but we need to complete packaging for DNN Review.
This takes time.  The modules support profiles also.

If you are interesterd in a stable test version, have a large number of users to import and will provide us feedback then send us an email.  We'll see if we can help you out.

I had to import 500 users with different roles and expiration dates from a proprietary system to DNN. I started with a spreadsheet of my members and John Mitchelle's importer code.  I updated his code a bit and improved the reporting.  Here are all the steps: DotNetNuke User Import by Eric Shafer

 Hi eshafer

I've used dnn village module if you convert your speadsheet to xml file then you will be able to use the module to import users. I import 235 users with different roles to one of my portals and I used it to delete 172 users from the other one. Also it works if you have property values. All you need is to have same property name as your xml element.  this is the address of the module( it is free). Hope it works for you.
