I'm already desperate, thinking to commit suicide

Windows authentication itselfe works fine on parent portal, as well as on child portal. On both portals I obtain OK when I hit the Update button. But if the user is already authenticated on parent portal, the authentication fails on child one and "vice versa". When I delete user from main portal, then I can authenticate it on child portal, but not on the main one.

It looks to me like Authentication doesn't distinguishes the difference in User tables or something like that.

Has anybody some experience with that? Any idea?

I'm having this same problem with DNN 4.0.1.

Has anyone figured a way to resolve this?  From what I gather so far, DNN doesn't create a new user if it's the same as another one in a different portal.  But this method does not make sense to me whatsoever.

What I would really like to do is use the main portal's user base as the whole site's user base, including child sites.  I don't want seperate logins for every child site... I want one unique login per user for the whole site and all child sites.  I could then distinguish who can go to what site based on roles.  (Why?  Because I could then manage the site's users and roles through AD)
Does anyone have any idea on how I could do this?  Where do I start?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

DNN Team: thanks for all the hard work you all have put into this, DNN is AWESOME!  I can't wait to deploy it!!

Thanks,

That sounds like a great idea, I would love to figure out how to do that.  It would be awesome to be able to assign a child portal to an already existing user!
