Well, I found the fix.  These are called "orphaned users."  To re-connect an orphaned user, just open a query window connected to the DotNetNuke database and execute the following Stored Procedure:

sp_change_users_login 'Update_One', 'UserName', 'LoginName'

I would update your tutorial a bit, as you need to be sure that BOTH connection strings get changed, otherwise, you can be set for some interesting issues later on.
