Dear all

I'm considering using dotnetnuke for my website which will be multilanguage in a second stage. I'm familiar with dotnet and I like the open source apporoach with dotnetnuke. What I'm confused about is the localization capablilities of dotnetnuke. Did I get it right: it allows to localize static text in buttons, textboxes etc., but DOESN'T allow dynamic localization in the standard modules?

I don't want to be ironic - but if this is true, the whole localization does not work because I'm not able to provide localized content!

Kind Regards,

Marc

As far as I know this is NOT true.  The support of localization does vary depending on the modules you use, however i believe that most core modules support it.  (If not all).

What I would reccomend is to install a copy of DNN locally and play around with the languages configuration and see if it will fit your needs.

I just had a look at the standard text/html module. I did not found any mecanism that supported two languages - only the name of the module can be localized. I'm still confused. . It looks that I need to buy another module especially developed displaying content in different languages.

At the moment NONE of the core modules support dynamic / content localization, you would have to use third party solutions for that

Please check out the localization forums for answers to your questions: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/forumid/78/scope/threads/Default.aspx

Also, you can download some free multi language enabled modules from my site: www.apollo-software.nl
