My users get logged off our system easily a dozen times per hour.

I got the below msg from our Host "Your domain is already in our session pool that allows the maximum we offer. This pool recycles every 4 hours. However if the server is rebooted, or a tech or our monitoring system sees a need to recycle IIS or other related services because of a problem the session will be lost.  Sessions are going to be lost throughout the day, the only sure fire way around that would be to use cookies instead of the server based sessions."

Is there a way to switch from Sessions to cookies?

By default DNN requires a cookie to keep things running, however session is used for other items.  There might not be much you can do.  ENsure that you do not have a property called "cookieless" set to true in your web config as that would disable cookies...but typically that is not set.

I believe the default install sets the authentication cookie timeout to 60 minutes, so even if the user checks the box to stay logged it, the cookie still expires after a relatively short timeout.   The other problem is that (at least with my install) sliding expiration was set to false.

I have mine set so that the cookie doesn't expire until a year after thier last login.  Here's what I have in my web.config.authentication mode="Forms">forms name=".DOTNETNUKE" protection="All" timeout="525600" cookieless="UseCookies" path="/" slidingExpiration="true" />authentication>
