How can I create surveys programmatically? I do not mind the fact that a survey is a module and in fact, find the coupling rather advantageous. Creating surveys through the UI is such a simple process -- essentially it's just placing a module on a page -- can I do this programmatically? Is there a formally defined programmatic method to instantiate a module?

This is not good.

My post is gathering dust. And everywhere I ask about DNN support for programatic portal administration people cannot run away fast enough.

If Michael Washington -- who is a module development maven -- has seen the post and not replied, it means programmatic administration of a module is not a straightforward proposition.

Too bad. It would have worked well for me.

C'est la vie.

It's not that it can't be done, it is that we don't have it on the Current Road Map.

If you are willing to work on the feature and donate the code to the project I would love to correspond with you.

Thank you for the reply. I just may do it. I know I'm not going to find Survey.Add (Portal, Page, Panel, Settings) but where do you suggest I look for the closest thing to it?

You will have to create the API. Right now the code directly writes to the database through the stored procedures. You can create a survey by writing to these tables right now.

The problem is we will be changing the table structure. So, if a API were created we could change the underlying code in the API to work with the new table structure to protect developer's from the changes.
