I just finally got my DotNetNuke installed and mostly working...

When I try to create a new portal, I get to the Template drop-down menu. The only option is DotNetNuke and Not Specified.

I choose DotNetNuke, set all the other settings, and click Create Portal.

I get the message: "DotNetNuke.template is not a valid Portal Template File."

So I went back and chose Not Specified. Then I got the message that I had to choose a template file. I searched the Internet for template files to download, and I couldn't find any.

I tried the instructions for creating a template: Exporting a template, but I get errors on that too: the template is not valid for doing that either. (I'm not on that screen, so I don't remember the exact error message, but the gist is it didn't work with the existing template either.)

Has anyone else run into this problem? Do you think it's my template file? Are there other template files that are available for download? All I can find are skins.

I am super new at all this too.  I just solved this problem 5 minutes ago.  Go to the Portals page.  On the Drop down menu, click "Export Portal Template."  I just named min "basic."  Then, "basic will be one of your choices in templates for the new portal.  Choose it and you'll be fine.

I'm very excited to be able to help, rather than just needing help!
