I have been developing sites strictly online and have not had much luck troubleshooting. I wanted to ask for feedback on what you are using building locally and what you use to build and how has it been working for you? Or is online the way to go?

Thanks,

Sean

We develop locally and use (our) BackupScript (http://www.evotiva.com/BackupScript) module to "upload" to the live site.

My setup is the following.

Locally I have two DNN 4.4.1 installations.  One is my "Development' install.  All of my custom modules are initially built and tested on this installation.  I then have a second environment that I will install my module on once I have "Completed" it.  This is where I test for successful execution of my "SQL Data Provider" scripts and other items of that nature.

Then if my modules are working correctly I will then move it to my production site.

I am uisng Visual Studio 2005 Professional edition for development running on Windows Vista...

Hello,

Pretty much the same as Michael.

As a side note, I avoid using things like "hardcoded" URLs (e.g. on Text/Html modules) because when moved to production may be wrong.
I have a little "search and replace" utility, just in case. I'll update it soon.

Best regards,
Horacio.-
