Hello Gurus.

My problem is I can not access my fresh install of DNN 441 from any computer except the on the server that it is installed on.

The environment is my own host and I only want to run one portal:

MS W2K SP4

IIS v5

MS SQL 2K

IE 6 & 7

FF 2

The install worked perfectly.  I can connect to the site on the server.  It is set up under the default web site as a virtual directory.  The problem occurs when I try to access the site from other computers across the network.  When I try, I use the IP address of the server and the virtual directory name and the default.aspx file.  On the local server, the url gets changed from http://nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn/virtual directoryname/default.aspx to http://localhost/default.aspx.  The problem is the computer I am on is not the server and the directoies and files are not installed there--so it can not find what it is looking for.

Can someone please tell me what the post-install steps are to configure and roll out the DNN install.  I want to be able to access DNN 441 from computers other than the server.

just add http://nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn/virtual as http alias to your portal (log on as host, go to site settings, and scroll to the very bottom of the page)

Thanks for the reply.

I did this.  The portal alias looks like it added successfully.  When I enter the url on the server the url changes from http://nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn/copilink to http://localhost/copilink.  This does not work on any computer except the computer where DNN is installed.  Do I need to restart IIS, DNN, or reboot?

Please let me know.
