1) how to make child Portals for the same DNN on my site

2 ) I want to make Multi DNN Versions like 3.X  and 4.X on the same database without make any conflict ?


are there any flow chart for the DNN structure And how it works
ans Database Diagrams ?

1. - You can create additional portal in an install as host using the Host -> Portals menu item in your site.

2. - There are some diagrams from older versions, but off the top of my head I am not sure where.  As for using multiple versions in the same database you would have to make use of hte objectqualifier in the web.config.  I recommend against it and think each install should have its own database.  Also, it was not the intent of the objectqualifier to do this.  But if you still wanted to do it, it requires seperate installs, thus having two web.configs to configure.

So... if not keeping multiple instances in the same database... what IS the intent of the objectqualifier???

The initial intent of the objectqualifier was to be able to install dnn on the same database which was used by another application. The use of the qualifier was to be able to differentiate two equally named table from both applications (dnn & other). So if both apps used a Users table you could be able to still install both in the same db.

This was later on used by some users to install two instances on the same db (though this is not a recommend practice and not one the core team will suggest) but I'm not sure this is absolutelly possible without any change. I think it should be, but I've never tried.
