I get an error saying

"Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

I am running DNN3 and have done a seperate installation of DNN4.4.1 and want to move my sites across to the newer version install. The whole install went fine but when I click on the "Go to your portal now" I get the error popping up. Please help. I am using the same database as the DNN3 install. Is there a difference in the DB setup (ie do I need to create a new DB and move data across from the old DB?)

If I do a clean install with a new DB, there is no problems. I dont mind doing it this way, but how do I go about transferring the data from the DNN3 DB to the DNN4 DB? Is there a difference in the DB structure in that I cant just dump all the info from DB 3 to DB 4? Am testing on a server before duplicating the process on the producction server......

When you performed the upgrade from 3.x to 4.4.1 all needed database changes would have been completed.

Depending on the scenario, you will want to make sure that all updated DLL's are included in the bin directory.

Did you get any errors when you did the upgrade?
