Last night, I installed DNN 4.x by an installer provided by my web host (webhost4life). I logged in as the host and changed the password, but I guess I mistyped it because I can't log in now. I read in a previous post that you can connect to the database directly and make some changse to get it fixed. I understand this, but what I don't understand is, how do I connect to the database directly? I'm used to Access databases, and this is my first experience with an MSSQL database.

If you can connect remotely using SQL Server Management Studio Express you can then execute queries against the database.

You can download SQL Server Management Studio Express from Microsoft.com for free.  I know that some but not all web hosts allow you to access the database remotely via this type of tool, so you might check with them to see if it works...but basically you provide the server name, username and password and it connects.  You can then browse the database and open a query window to run queries.

If you are not familiar with SQL I highly recommend setting up a local copy and practicing first as you do not wasnt to mess up your actual site.

If you are looking for the script to copy a known password to reset the password of another account you can find the tutorial on my blog site http://www.mitchelsellers.com
