What's the best way to do e-mail newsletter sign-up? I could just have a link labeled "Sign up for our e-mail newsletter!" and have that link point to the same register page that members use. But I'm wondering if there is a specific feature of DotNetNuke for subscribing without registering. If I use the standard registration feature, is there anyway that I can flag e-mail subscribers as a special category or role? Any advice on the best practices for e-mail newsletter sign-up for DNN sites would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
John

Unfortunately there is no core project module which enables this. DNN is based around User Membership so signing up for an account is how DNN manages this.

The current way of achieving this with DNN is to have them Register and set a role such as the default Subscribers role as Public and Auto. This doesn't have to give them access to any content management or role restricted areas, but will just collect their info.

An alternative if you want to take details without giving people a user account would be to create a simple form that emails to you.
