Hey Dragonskin,

I've been reading through this post and it really doens't sound like something a blog is supposed to do / be. The articles of news modules would make a lot more since for what you are trying to do but I also understand the look and feel on them are just really not nice at all.

I had to do something similar to what you are wanting to do and found a module called Orizonti NukeNews.  It's a lot like the efficon module but more feature rich and the best part is you have full control of the look and feel.  You might want to check it out.

Cheers,

Paul Davis

Thanks for your reply. I'll take a look into that module.

Regarding my previous post, I have discovered that I did not, in fact, introduce the NullReferenceExceptions with the changes I had been testing. Set up a blog, then set the personal blog page, and then delete the blog. The search actually displays the error message, while the listing control only shows it when you go into the module options. Recreating the controls on the page doesn't fix it.

Regarding my original post, I still think that being able to tie down to the child blogs is something that the personal blog page feature should include, regardless of how I'm trying to use the feature. You can syndicate child blogs separately, but you can't set it up so only a child blog is displayed on a page? I guess that to me it just doesn't make sense... Yes, there is a workaround, but why force a person to have multiple accounts and root blogs to accomplish this simple scenario?

As it stands, I've seen a couple responses saying "try this other module" but nothing concrete on WHY this feature shouldn't be included in this module.

Thanks again!

I have to agree with the OP in that I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to use the personal blog feature with a child blog (aside from it not being an option right now).

I plan on looking into those article modules to see how they would work out for different ideas I have for my site.
