I imported over 2200 users from an older version of a DNN database (3013) into the current DNN 441 solution. I have taken precautions to preserve the applicationId column and imported all the aspnet tables also. My dev solution has stopped authenticating users all together.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance!

I saw your post in my email yesterday morning but was too busy at work to get back to you with my thoughts. You say you took precautions to preserve the applicationID but what about the machine keys in the web.config? Are they the same between your 3.0.13 install and your 4.4.1 install? Also how did you do the import? Was it a script that you wrote or did you use a 3rd party module?

I wrote scripts - actually I just used a query window in SQL Management Studio. Both databases are local to my default instance. I am using SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition.

I haven't checked all the machine keys. I did attach the source database file from another server instance. Where can I find all the machine key references in the database so I can batch update them?

Mike, I figured out what the problem was. The dnn_vw_Users view was not returning the users to the portal because I didn't import the dnn_UserPortals table; therefore the PortalId column in the view was NULL.

So I wrote a SQL Script that imported all the users with a userId > 2 (preserving my host and admin accounts). I deleted my cookie, and Mixed Authentication is working again.

Thanks for putting me on the trail. You indirectly caused me to take a look at my problem with new eyes.

Cheers!
