I would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction. I need for the store module to pull products from a data base and need to know:

a) Can this be done?

b) If so what database is best for the job.

and c) How would one go about setting it all up.

Even if someone could tell me where to find this information that would be great, I've searching all afternoon.

Thanks, Debi

Hello Debi:

The Store module already stores all of it's product information within the DotNetNuke database (typically SQL Express). Maybe your question would be better put: how can I synchronize my product information with another database?

I would be happy to answer any further questions you have via email to answer question C.

That is exactly what I mean, sorry. My client has a painfully slow dialup connection and I thought if we could set it up so he could update the database on his pc then upload it to his server then he could be doing something else while it uploads instead of having to update each product individually in the store module. I was hoping that it could be done with something that is fairly easy to learn and use...perhaps access or mysql?? As my client has 0 database experience, I would need to instruct him on how to update it. Any ideas??

I would suggest you do things to optimize the page size: when using DNN4, you can specify to place the "Page State Persistance" in memory instead of default in the page (if you are using a hosted DNN account and don't have access to the host account, then you can't change this setting), and turning on the 'Whitespace Filter.' Also explore the other compression settings: these will help the page load faster in your client's web browser. I still think the only way to manage the store module will be using the store module's admin interface, you will be biting off more than you can chew if you try to tread untrod ground.
