Excuse me for using the forms for this query - I have searched the forum content but have not come up with a response.

I would like to aggregate custom reports from multiple different databases into the DDN portal whilst still retaining all of the capabilities of registration and security provided by the framework.  Basically, I would want to generate custom report pages into the portal by extracting data from these external databases without a URL redirect, such as would be necessary with an interface to Reporting Server.

Is there a way of extending the DAL to encompass multiple databases?  How would one go about this?

Thanks,

Hans

Hans

I use SqlGridSelectedView from http://www.tressleworks.ca/. This is a great module to query dbs.  I use data from 3 different sql servers.  You can define data sources in the web.config file or as part of the module settings.

tommcur - thanks fo ryour replay.  Yest, I saw this software module and have downloaded it for some experimentation.  It appears to be very powerful... the only issue now is getting images, such as with a catalogue.  Still Trying.  Thanks Hans

Michael - Thanks fo ryour reply and reference.  I will experiment with this solution also.  The issue becomes that I need to ensure that the DotNetNuke database is also in play to ensure that we maintain security on some of the features/reports we are planning.  Thanks - I was not fully aware that we could use the MS Enterprise Patterns in conjunction with DDH.  --- Hans
