Hello

I know, this topic is a well discussed topic in this forum, but I spend many hours to read the questions and answers, but
I didnt came to the point that my DNN works.
Maybe I'm working too hard on solving the problem so that I cant see the simple way anymore.
Maybe I'm too frustrated to find out what I'm doing wrong.

I have created a working portal on my localhost and now want to set up a new portal on a webserver (windows2000 if this is a relevant information).
On my localhost I have used the starter kit to install DNN but on my webserver I tried to use the INSTALL-Package.
I have read the documentation as well as it was to manage with my english knowledge, but I do not really know how to configure a SQLExpress Database
for my DNN.

On my webserver I first have worked with SQL Server 2000/2005 but now I want to manage it with SQL Express in order to
copy the old database-file from my localhost DNN (created by the starterkit) into my webserver DNN, because of tables I have added while creating
new modules und because of full entries. (I dont want to create every page new... I have already a ful site working on localhost...)

So following the steps I have done:
- Creating a new folder on my webserver
- Unzip the Install-Package into this new folder
- Open webcofig
- Try to change the settings for the database connection

And at this point I fail.
- First of all I tried to use the default-settings but this didnt work.
- I tried to follow he instructions in different forums, which said I have to add the connection data for my database (databasename, uin, pwd...), this didnt work either
(I dont even know how to get these informations.... maybe this is the point you could help me...)
- I dont really know anymore everything I have tried...

With every new try I have deleted every file and folder I have installed minutes (or hours) before, so that I could be sure I work with a "clean" version and not with
a version I have changed many times....

So as already mentioned a few lines above I thinkk I just have to get the needed informations about my database.mdf...

Thanks
Jonathan

Thank you,

but I went back to my older version without Express, because this was the way how it worked.
Now it all seem to work as I want it too...
But many thanks for your reply. You really helped me with this.

Jonathan
