1) In the DNN database i see two sets of tables, one grouped around "User" and one grouped around "aspnet_Users". Which should i being using when doing SQL queries? I read the pdf on DNN Membership but it did not clarify what tables i should be querying.

2) Could someone provide sample SQL that shows how to retrive user attributes, such as telephone, postal code, other?

I realize there is an DNN API that could be used but for this development i have to access the DNN database direct.

If you can avoid it (and in some cases you can't) don't query the databse tables directly. We change the "data schema" regularly. This will cause your queries to break as we constantly change tables and stored procedures as we add more features and improve performance.

See the "UserController" and "RoleController" classes. For example:

Dim loginStatus As Security.Membership.UserLoginStatus
Dim objUser As UserInfo = UserController.ValidateUser(_PortalID, _Username, _Password, "", "", "255.255.255.1", loginStatus)

Dim RoleController As Security.Roles.RoleController = New Security.Roles.RoleController

Dim strRoles As String() = RoleController.GetRolesByUser(UserInfo.UserID, UserInfo.PortalID)
