Thank you for the suggestion, but I don't think DotNetNuke website here has every email address registered in there allowed domain list to be able to send out emails.  I do not have problems sending out any mail using the newsletter, any kind of verification or notification all works correctly, the registration email that DNN sends out with a code for new registers does not work making it very difficult to add new members to the website.  There has to be something that is not right in the admin config that does not allow DNN to send out these verification emails to new users.

Anyone have any suggestions?  It seams that I am not the only one with this problem but have waited a very long time for anyone to respond with some answers to this problem.

I should use this question for a stump the DNN professional’s challenge!!

You have a misunderstanding of how SMTP and anti-spam control programs work.  The receiving domain's spam system is what is returning the message to you, not your sending domain.  You said previously that no mail was going out, now you're saying only verification mail doesn't go out.  You need to check the logs for your SMTP server to see what happened sending the message.  And if verification gets delivered to some accounts but not others, it's not a DNN setting that will correct this.

Many larger ISP's such as Yahoo, Gmail, MSN and AOL block email from senders they consider to be a high probability of being spam senders.  That includes most systems on dynamic IP addresses, such as a home system on a cable connection.  It also includes systems where the SMTP sending domain doesn't match the sending domain in the email, and SMTP servers that send from one IP address but claim to be on another.  But these are characteristics that would be in all email sent by your DNN installation.

A solution to most of this is for the receiving system to add the sending system to their allowed domains, allowing the spam control software to deliver mail from the sending domain.  If your users add your DNN domain to their allowed senders, and can then receive the messages, then that's your problem.

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for the reply.

This is not a spam issue; the emails just do not get sent out by DNN at all.  I was talking about some other parts of DNN does send out emails but not the verification of new members sending out an email with a code for them to login for the first time using this code to verify that they received the email and that there email address is valid.  I don't know what more I can say except, I have tried changing some configurations but it has not fixed the problem.

If I typed something to suggest that I have been receiving error messages back from the sending mail server then is was a mistake, I do not receive any messages back at all.  The email from DNN just does not send out at all.

I read that is you remove the domain email address in the authentication configuration screen then this will allow DNN to send out emails but it will not let me remove it to try.

Any other suggestions?

Sorry there, I was replying to another post about the spam.

In your case, is the SMTP server yours or your hosts?  Do you need to authenticate to it or not?  When you configure the SMTP server in Host Settings, does the Test work?  Until the test works, nothing will work.

If you don't need to authenticate, you can place just the name of the mail server, such as mail.sample.com, or the IP address, such as 192.168.1.1, in the SMTP settings.  If you do need to authenticate, you will need the account and password entered as well.  The question on authenticating is one your host or email admin can answer.
