Hi,

I want to add an article using Text/HTML module

The article should be available for all registered users (so including non-registered). But at the end of the article I want o include a link to download a file. However, this file I want to be available only for registered users.

How do I do this?

I created in filemanager a secure folder, set it for registered users, and added the file to download there. Then in text/htmp module I added a hyperlink to that file. The problem is even for registered and unregistered uses when I click the link it gets me to an error page - file not found.

But I can see the file while logged as admin in file manager. What I do wrong?

Thanks,

Marius

This may not be achievable by using a TEXT/HTML module...it would seem to me that you need some custom logic that would show or hide this element based on a user's role.

There may be a module already created that supports this kind of functionality, or you may want to look into developing a simple module of your own.

Hope that helps,
Ian

Hi,

Actually my thought was the following:

Initially I created the articles portlet by using Announcement module. It was made available for all users, and with just a brief from the article. The full page for article was set available for registered users, and when user click on Read More... if not logged, was first redirected to login page. After login he was regisredted to proper article page. My question is if there is such feature for a simple file available in the portal, not only for a page.

Thank you.

OK, I understand your dilemma a bit more clearly now.  Unfortunately I do not believe there is a mechanism that allows you to set permissions explicitly for a file within DotNetNuke.  Your best bet might just to place the link to the download on a page and set permissions for that page....

Thanks.

Actually I used a different approach. On article page I placed the article ina Text/html module and I placed two other modules. One is visible for unauthenticated users, telling download is available only for registered users and inviting to register or login and other available for registered users, with the actual download link.

Now I have another wuestion: the article module is set to hide container, so article is seen directly in the page. But I'd like to have the download module with the container visible in the upper right corner, and the article text to "flow" around it. If I put the download in the right pane, it occupes a whole column, across the whole page, and make the article page much lenghtly than if the textr will flow around the download container and continue below it. Not sure if you understand.

So as a conclusion, is it possible to include a module within another module (the text/html module, in this case)? Thanks
