I have looked all over asp.net and dotnetnuke.com fourms. Am I just Missing it? How do you enable debugging on a custom module in DNN 4.--

Even if i create a private assembly i am still not able to debug this module.

Please Help

Thank you

Chris

Are you familiar with the process for debugging the web process in general? Trying to figure out where to best start to help with your situation.

Well I have been using the 1.1 framework for about 4 years now so i understand that well. But the new 2.0 framework with dotnetnuke is throw a couple of wrenchs in to the mix.

So where I am at. I have a module created. I have uploaded it in to DNN.(It works)--There are some bugs in it. When i set a break point i get the error

This break point will not be hit no symboles have been loaded for it.

With the 2.0 frame work.

I understand there are 3 parts now. The codefile, the designer file(Which is created at runtime) and the .ascx file.

What i do not understand is this app_code. It would seem that if you put.vb files in the app_code directory it  compiles them.

But when i created a new blank web project and added a webcontrol.ascx page it did not put anything in to the app_code directory. So i am blank now on what use the app_code directory does.

So that is where I am at. I need to be able to hit that breakpoint.

let me know if you need any other information

Thanks

Chris

Are you compiling the module and producing a symbol file? If there is no symbol file to match your DLL, that could be why you are seeing this error when you try to set a break-point in the debugger.

As far as the app_code directory,I'm not sure that's relevant at this point. Sounds like you need to build using the Debug profile to produce the symbol file.

Ok that is the problem. The question then is how do i get this custom module inside of the dot net nuke 4.02 project to compile to get the symbol file? To get debugging to work

I am not at work i will post vs settings when i get there.
