Is there significance/difference in using module settings over tabmodule settings or vice versa.  It appears the relationship between them is one-to-one or are there cases when there would be multiple tabmoduleid's for a moduleid?  Any insight on the difference between these settings options is appreciated.

Hi smcclure11,

I think that tabmodule settings are settings specific to the module instance, on the other hand module settings are settings general for all instances of the module.

Hope it helps.

Regards

One module can be placed on multiple pages. The moduleID will be the same, but the tabmoduleID will be different. ModuleSettings are linked to ModuleID, and thus those settings will be the same for all "copies" of the module. TabModuleSettings are linked to the tabmoduleId, so they can differ for each copy.

One thing to remember: if you want to support exporting of your module's settings, you might want to choose moduleSettings, currently there is no way of exporting TabModuleSettings (it is not supported by IPortable)

Thank you for the insight -

- For the first time, I noticed (focused on) the control panel options "*Add New Module *Add Existing Module".  Since I had always left the default, I was adding unique instances each time.  I would like to think that -that option is new to the control panel in V4, but I guess I should just feel a bit s-t-u-p-i-d.
