In our current portal installation we have approximately 37 different portals.  The problem that we are facing is the naming issues of users.  For example, for each portal we want an account called Admin, or Administrator but this fails because the user has already been setup for another portal.  This should be completely seperate from any other portal information though?

Also, for another portal we have created 10 different Security Groups.  Within each of those groups we needed two security roles 'Administrators' and 'Users'.  Again, we can not create these roles for each group as they already existing in the other group.  Shouldn't each group be treaded as an individual and not conflict with another group which would be assigned to something completely different.

Is there a way to get around this or am I just being really thick and missing something!! (that wouldn't be the first time)

Wayne, because DNN uses the asp.net membership provider the usernames must be unique. There is no getting around that, unless you want the same username and password for the admin account across all portals, meaning the same exact user is the admin for all portals. Otherwise you have to have a different username for each Admin.

As for roles, Groups are just a way to categorize roles, for sites with hundreds of roles, before groups these roles would all be loaded on each module and page settings controls, causing slow load times and difficulty locating specific roles in a long list. AFAIK you're not going to be able to double up role names within a portal.
