I need to make a web portal that will accommodate a small IT company. I'm trying to make a decision on whether or not to use DNN as its general content management tool. The site needs a login, and a forum. It’s apparent that DNN offers both of those functions. However, this site will also display certain events related to the company’s technologies, (events: tradeshows, seminars, workshops, etc…). Each of these events will need a registration form. This form would include the user login data, as well as other pertinent information pertaining to the particular event selected. The form application will need to send a confirmation email to the registrant, and update an events registrant database (or table). Also, access to the registrant database (or table) would be necessary for follow-up campaigns, demographic queries, etc…
So, I guess what I’m basically asking is whether or not DNN allows for form building. Is there a form module already in existence that would accommodate what is needed here? Or, will it allow me to create a .NET application that will meet specific event registration requirements, (i.e., list events, form submission that would email registry confirmation, and write to an events table within an MS 2005 SQL database, etc...)? Can I simply insert my code on a particular page within DNN? Will it allow me to use the DNN login credentials from a specific user so they wouldn't have to re-enter their basic login info when registering for a particular event?
I hope this makes sense.
Thanks for your time….and help.
