Not having looked at the code, does DNN use the WebClient class to "include" portlets on a page?

No DNN does not do this in the core.  It has an IFrame module.

PageBlaster can do that though.

So unlike portal products like Plumtree or WebSphere, portlets/modules are in IFrames in DNN.

there's a product called "web harpoon" that allows you to grab any content from any site: http://www.snowcovered.com/snowcovered2/Default.aspx?tabid=241&sid=3153

Also.. not sure what you mean by portlet, in dnn speak that would be a module. The framework does over something that is called inter module communication, which allows for modules to communicate with each other (provided they are on the same page)

Would you care to explain what it is you are looking for more specifically?

I guess I would be talking about modules in DNN speak.  In a portal product like Plumtree, WebLogic, WebSphere, you can build a web app and then point to it via the portals framework and it gets "included" on a page withing a td.  I remains fully functional on its own, by that I mean if it has buttons you can click them and the content of that portlet does whatever it is programmed to do.  I am looking to move from a large portal product but need to make sure that the 30+ portlets I have written can (of course with tweaking) be used by something like DNN or Rainbow or the like.
