Most of the recent posts talk about downloading the beta version, but it doesn't seem that a normal user can download the beta. I admit that I don't have a lot of experience using DotNetNuke.com and would love for someone to prove me wrong.

Does each individual have to request/be granted access before they can try a beta?

Thanks,
Gaines

Yes, you have to send email to Alan to get/try the Events beta version.

Availability of 'beta' versions of projects varies by project.  Sound confusing?  Sorry.  Each project is comprised of a team of community members that actively work on a project in some capacity, either developing, reviewing usage and function, documenting features, or other tasks required by the project.  Before a module is released to the general community, it goes through a lot of testing to ensure, as much as possible, that it is ready for integration into the DNN project.

Over the years, DNN has moved many modules out of the core arena to provide more ownership of the development cycle to the DNN community.  Each project encourages folks to help, mostly all it takes is a willingness to do something to help move the project forward.  Contact info appears on each project page.  If you can help, by all means get involved.

Gaines...if you email me privately we may be able to include you in the Beta program.

In general, some beta programs are closed.  The reason for this is that some users do not understand the term and try to implement the "unfinished" code in production.  We have already had a few cases like this...where users blamed beta code for corrupting their production web site (if though it was not true)...as with any DNN function (including the core), we strongly recommend site operators backup their web sites (and databases) and install the new functions on a local machine and test...test...test before implementing on a production web site.  In the future, we may implement a restricted beta to those that understand this and help identify issues.
