I believe if you would have specified 5 min. for your interval in host-tracker, that it would have worked for you, and you should have changed the method to GET as well.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322350

In the default IIS, I don't believe you can set the default quiet time recycle time. You would need the plug-in referenced above.

Again, the default for quiet time recycling is 10 minutes, not 20 minutes.

Someone correct me if I have overlooked something as my IIS knowledege is not the greatest.

JennaM:

I gather that my little program worked for you.  You are very welcome.

Remember that any "keepalive" solution you use will make a bunch of entries in the logs (both DNN and IIS).  You need to keep this in mind when running reports or when looking at space utilization.  I periodically delete the entries from the keepalive program from the DNN database.

I'm not sure if this is entirely true.

I was under the impression that if you're hitting the KeepAlive.aspx page in your installation, you will have no entires in the DNN log.

In IIS you will.

In Default.aspx.vb, there is logic in the ManageRequest() method and in there is site logging logic in that method.

In KeepAlive.aspx, you have no such logic.

Ed:

You are correct in all your points, I stand corrected.  However, the entries I am getting in the log from my keepalive utility appear because in addition of calling Keepalive.aspx, I am also invoking the page with the Gallery Module.  I was experimenting with that to see if it would also speed up the Gallery.  If you only call Keepalive.aspx no entry will be made to the DNN log.

Thank you for the clarification.

Carlos
