Sharlynm,

You can actually do what you are asking for.

When you create a blog, there is an option to have this blog "public" or not.
If you do not check that box then the blog will be available to members only and the name will not show on the list.

I belive this is what you are looking for although you could also use the default DNN roles to achieve a similar result

Antonio, That is exactly what I would like to happen.  However, if I log in and set my blog settings to NOT be public (do not check the check box to make it public), then no one can see it, even after they log in.  Is it possible I just have some settings incorrect?

Also, I am not seeing how to do it the other way either.  If I make his blog public, there are no module settings to set to registered users only.  His blog shows up to the public in the blog list.

Apparently it seems I should be able to do what I want, but I am too stupid to figure it out!  If anyone has time to give me some help (obviously I need some step by step instructions to make sure all my settings are correct), I would greatly appreciate it.

As I am typing I thought... do I just need to install a new instance of the blog module?  So there would be two to choose from in the module drop down list?  I could use one for public blogs and one for internal blogs?  The internal onces would go on a page that is only viewable to registered users?

Its not you... it's just the way the Blog module seems to be working right now. It seems that what you are trying to do is not as common as one would think. Maybe that is why it is not there.

As you may know, I just inherited this project and I have a lot of good ideas and plans. This is something interesting to add to the list.

I'll tell you what... I think you can help me by putting together a use case.
Do you think you can do that?

Thanks.

What kind of format would you want the use case in?  I've never officially created one before!  :)

I have several "features" for the blog module I would like to submit!

I think you are talking about a feature that I desperatly need as well. (A way to set permissions on each Blog).

I want be able to allow certain Roles to have a blog where only members of that role can see.

Is this possible now? I can't find it anywhere, because even if I create a new instance of the blog module on a different page and set the module permissions to only the group that I want, It still shows up on my public blog Page under the blog lists.

So It would be great if we could set permissions on each Blog, just like we can on each Page and module.

Thanks

Brad
