Ok...
cannarozzo...I'll try again...put another instance of the calendar on the site, select either the list of small calendar, and reference the originial! It still works....please spread the word. This really is a pretty powerful module...if folks will try it for a while and see what they can do with. We did have over 200 downloads of the beta and a lot of debate and great suggestions....If not, you can always put in a feature (or bug) and see if others will support it.
I think you're possibly not quite understanding what has gone missing.. and that is perhaps also the reason why it has gone missing.
If you do what you have described above, the module corrrectly display events from the other module.. that's all fine and the old one did it just the same. But when you click on an event in the module that is referencing the other module's events, it displays that event inline. The old module displayed it in an admin page.
Generally speaking, when a site designer has placed the list-view on a page, it is to provide a small listing of events in a small place, e.g. a side column. It doesn't make any sense to then wreck the layout by displaying the event details inline. In many case the vent won't even be readable... after all, it is trying to display in a space where the designer only had room for a tiny listing.
This is why the old module had two specific settings in the Event List Settings section:
- Enable List Mode
- Selected Events
Those two settings were for the very purpose I and others are referring to. Why would anyone ask for them to be dropped?... Makes no sense to me.
If I have to make a feature request to reinstate existing functionality that has been broken, let me know and I will.

P.s. I still think that providing good RSS access to evetn data might be the smarter way out of this. It wouldn't provide a seamless upgrade path.. but that is now gone anyway.
