I think a lot depends on the specific layout and modules that a DNN site uses as to how SEO friendly the site is.  I have had very good luck with Google and other search engines indexing my website with DNN.  Also the newer the version of DNN the better it is.  At least this is my $0.02 on the issue...

Not by default. But it can be configured to raise it's chances with search engines.

Also, as Mitchel said if the module is not developed with SEO in mind, you will have a tough luck (and most of them are not developed with SEO...)

One big obstacle of DNN when it comes to SEO is that it doesn't have real friendly URL's (think of Joomla and Apache url rewrite options)... but hopefully that will change in the future (take a look at www.ventrian.com for a project from Scott which does a step in the right direction)

I find that DNN makes SEO quite easy, but you do have to do some manual work too.

I have managed to get PokerDIY.com to number 1 in Google for a lot of search terms in a notoriously tough sector - poker. Try "find live poker", "local poker league" etc. (you can see more terms here on my blog).

So it is possible, but you still need to spend some time on each page defining keywords and titles etc.
