Hello all!

As a classic ASP developer, I'm utterly new in the DotNetNuke field as well as in the Visual Studio field alltogether (I'm using 2005). However, I (think I) need to alter the links module a bit in order for "my" links-module to keep the QueryString if it happens to exists. I'm pretty sure it's peanuts for a lot of you, I'm just trying to find out where to start. I think I need to make a tiny addition to the FormatURL function somewhere. When I do a search for that function, it seems to exist in most of the modules that are installed. Anyway, is my thinking correct? Do I need to alter that function? Or make a renamed copy of it? Any help would be much appreciated!

The overall thing I'm trying to accomplish is to make it work with the SQL view module by DNN stuff. This module makes the querystring an option to grab in the view-filter. I need to browse views, keeping a QueryString parameter.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

- Alex.

I'm reading some more posts regarding custom variable propagation in DNN forums. I'm sure as soon as I'm getting more DNN ground under my feet things will become more clear. I'm defending my view of using DNN for future projects at work, so I needed a fast demonstration of how I thought to incorporate elements of a project we're working on. The SQL view came in handy.
I overcame the QueryString propagation challenge by simply altering the Links.aspx source file together with turning the Count Clicks option off for the links in the links module. This works good enough for my defensive demonstration in favor of DNN. If anyone has more knowledge on this, please do share your information. As far as I can see it, DNN is a marvelous base to build pretty software on!
