Hi Roton. Did you try the DotNetNuke_4.0.2_StarterKit.vsi? Can you explain to me again what you mean by administrator ranked account? I have created a user account with administrator power. I installed VS 2005 under my user account. When I install the starter kit, it copies all the files to C:\Documents and Settings\ivan\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Templates\ItemTemplates\Visual Web Developer\

When I open VS2005 and I tried to create "New" website, I can't find the "DotNetNuke Web Application" under "My Templates". How do see the DNN template?

I then tried to install the DNN 4.0.2 by using the source files and keep getting:

Server Error in '/DotNetNuke_2' Application.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Source Error:

Line 112: 'ASP.NET 2 version connection string (in <connectionstrings>)
Line 113: 'This will be for new v4.x installs or upgrades from v4.x
Line 114: connectionString = System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings(name).ConnectionString
Line 115: End If
Line 116:

Source File: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\DotNetNuke_2\Library\Components\Shared\Config.vb    Line: 114

I don't know how to fix it and I am really stuck in getting DNN running.

Hi, Roton:

Can you explain more details on solving this problem?

I had exact same problem when I set the database user as "sa" in the connection string (because I got errors if I use the user with dbowner access I created for DNN database).

I am using windows 2003 and VS.Net 2005 and SQL2005 standard version.

Thanks in advance,

Gary

Having trouble installing the source, I also can't go on when try to install the DNN 4.0.2 starter kit. I use Windows XP, ASP.NET 2.0, SQL Server Express 2005 and Visual Studio 2005.

I installed the starter kit, but when I tried try to use it with VS 2005, New-> Website, I can't find DotNetNuke Application Framework under "My Templates". I tried other template like "Club Web Starter Kit", I can find its template without any problem using VS 2005.

It seems like the DNN Starter Kit has copied files "DotNetNuke.zip" to "C:\Documents and Settings\ivan\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Templates\ProjectTemplates\Visual Web Developer\VisualBasic\"

and files "Module_VB.zip" & "Skin.zip" to C:\Documents and Settings\ivan\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Templates\ItemTemplates\Visual Web Developer\VisualBasic\

Is there any changes on the directories where the zip files are supposed to be copied to in order to make them appear on the My Template list (using VS2005 NOT VWD 2005)?

Any help would be appreciated.
