I want to add this functionality so users can choose to be notified if anything changes on a tab.

Users should be able to chose from:

  • Daily (send a daily email of tab changes)
  • Weekly (send a weekly email of all tab changes that have occured in the current week)
  • Monthly (send a monthly email of all tab changes that have occured in the current month)

I built this into the old IBS framework, but it was only possible because each Module had a CreatedDate field in the Module DB table.

Does anyone know of any module that allows this?

I think this is something missing from DNN and would be a great way of keeping users coming back to view the changed info.

I suppose a starting point for this would be to hook into the logic that the What's New Module uses. If we forget about Tab-level and work from the portal level, then it should be possible for someone to subscribe to any updates to the portal over a daily, weekly or monthly timeframe.

The email would include some basic info (just like the What's New module) and a link to the updated sections (just like the What's New module).

Would any module developers think about taking this on?
