I think I may have stumbled upon a more accurate description/fix for the problem.

In the dbo.Folders table, there must be an row that had a PortalID of Null and an empty folder path.

Looking at a fresh 4.5 install, the first entry in the table had a PortalID of 0.  So I wrote a quick script to change the PortalID to Null.  Then the Host banner setup worked perfectly.

On my 4.41 -> 4.5 site, the first entry also had a PortalID of 0.  Due to a key constraint, my little script wouldn't work because row number 3 had a Null Portal ID.  So using the INSERT queries above I changed the FolderID parameter to '3', ran the queries and all is well.

To simplify for people like myself who confuse easily, find the first entry in your dbo.Folders table that has a Null PortalID value and an empty FolderPath and use that FolderID as the FolderID parameter in the INSERT queries previously listed.

Hope this is helpful!

Rbrun & wallew, could you please check on your web if you can put a banner located in another folder than the ROOT one ?

May other people with a fresh 4.5.0 can also check if they can put a banner located in another folder than the 'ROOT' one ??

For me, it is only possible to add pictures from the root (and to upload to root). No other possibility. I would be very interested in knowing how it is on your install. (For info, on 4.4.1 it was possible to choose another folder...)

(for me, File Location does not show anything else than Root). I am afraid that my problem is not completely solved...
But Wallew and other have the beginning of the solution, since it is effectively a problem of rights. Comparing my table with "normal table" should give the answer.

I created a folder under HOST ROOT called banners, uploaded a file and was able to add a banner out of the new Banners folder.

Wallew, have you tried this on my web ? It is not working.... The folder under root are not accessible, that's why I said that the problem was not solved completely...
RBrun, any news on your side ???
