Just curious as I don't recall any mention of this in the version 4.5 features Blogs: What's the purpose of the new field "Username" followed by an "Add" linkbutton below the permissions grid on both page and module settings pages?

BTW, I think hiding the control panel and the View/Edit radio button selector when in Admin/Host role is a great idea!

I believe that is for assigning access rights to the users directly (not only to user groups as before). This will come in very handy for our corporate intranet portal!

I've also noticed that the same control is on the File Manager page. So, if I give a user rights to write to the folder will he/she be able to upload files there using image upload mechanism in the FCK editor?

That allows you to add individual UserNames to the security.

It has been referred to as User Level Security.  The UI does leave room for improvement, but it is a great feature and I'm sure it'll get better.

Thanks John. I thought it might be related to the start of per user security.  Combined with more modules implementing custom permissions this will be very useful.
