First, I love the new notification capabilities offerred in version 3.3.7

However, I do see one potential problem.  When someone requests to be notified of the event, the module allows them to put in any email address they wish.  I would like it better if it ONLY allowed them to be able to have notifications sent to the email they have registered on the site.  This prevents the module from being able to be used as a sort of 'spam' engine.  The reason I say this is because, nothing stops me from putting in anyone's email address to receive the notification, even if it is not my own.

Just a thought.

Nice work though!

I thought about this...and others have asked for notification for anonymous.  I would prefer your suggestion.  How would you implement?  ex. Leave it the way it is...but when someone tries to subscribe...caution them that they must be registered....  or not show the notification at all, unless they are registered...

Thoughts?  We need details and input on how this feature should work that will satisfy most.  Thanks.

I think the best way to handle this (and satisfy the most people), would be to make it optional whether or not to allow annonymous notifications.  If they do not allow anonymous notification, then the user must be registered.

Then, on the Event Module Settings page you can just add a check-box for "Allow annonymous notifications?".

What do you think, possible?

Thanks for the immediate response!  Nice work!

This should be an easy fix...so:

1) add another option iin settings to "Allow Anonymous Notifications"...the default will be "true" in order to support existing implementations.
2) If allowed, no changes to current Events 3.3.7 implementation
3) if NOT allowed:
   a) do not allow email entry
   b) do not display the link, if user viewing the page is not registered

Does this work.

Right on!   (for me anyway) :)

You might show them on the screen what their registered email is if they are registered.  Just so they can see where the notification is going.  Just a little nice touch that will give it that added little extra.

:)
