Use the install package, not the UPGRADE package for major version changes like 4.4 to 4.5

I tend to only use the upgrade package when going from releases like 4.5.1 to 4.5.3

Chris,

First off, thank you for your reply.  My entire project centers around upgrading a DNN 4.00.02 site to 4.05.03.  Are you suggesting that I should NOT try the 4.05.03 upgrade for this effort, but rather use the 4.05.03 install.zip?  I have been ~working on this upgrade since January.  I get tired of the problems and then go away for awhile until I feel like hammering on it some more.  Any advise is appreciated....I have six portals and that's a lot of data to move by hand....one piece at a time.

That is what I'm suggesting, but I'm not suggesting starting over. I'm suggesting you upgrade by using the INSTALL package, not the UPGRADE package. See my blog post
