Okay, I just upgraded to 4.5.1 to fix the problem of the Users table not being properly populated from AD, as follows:

  • My DOMAIN\<username> was correctly inserted into the username column
  • My <username> was inserted into the "Firstname" column, which it shouldn't
  • The DOMAIN was inserted into the "Lastname" column, which it shouldn't
  • Nothing was inserted into "DisplayName"

I tried it without applying the AD Fix for 4.5.1, but still no change. I get authenticated, but the Users table is wrong - as above.

I then applied the AD Fix for 4.5.1 and tried it again. NO CHANGE! Argggh. I am going to have a chat with a Network Admin to double check if it's something to do with AD itself.

If anyone can suggest something at this point, I'd be gratetful!

One more thing I have to try again is using <impersonation>.

I'll update this thread with the outcome.

I'm seeing the same issue with the latest version of DNN 4.7.0. We finally got AD sort of working once we realized we had to turn off anonymous access in IIS for the WindowsSignIn.aspx file. When I hit the DNN site it logs me in and adds my user from AD. However First Name gets set to my username and Last Name gets set to my domain, etc. I checked our AD and everything is correct in AD. Also, if I come back to the site later or log off it will not auto log me back on using AD. Do I have to turn anonymous off for the whole site rather than just the WindowsSignin.aspx?

Try using impersonation on the site (covered on Page 5 of the user's guide).

When you go back to the site later...how much later? DNN will change the cookie so that you aren't logged in and if it hasn't timed out (or IIS hasn't recycled the app) you will stay logged out.

We tried that but got the CountryListBox error that others were getting.
