Hi, we will have to create child portals in the near future over and over again because of testing purposes and enrollment purposes. I can imagine that after doing a basic DNN install and installation of our modules, that we could use a SQL-script to create child-portals, users, tabs, modules, rights and so on. Before I dive into the table structure of DNN, I would like to know if someone has any suggestions on this matter, for making life easier.

Instead of trying to do it directly in the DB you should do it through the API.

Have a look at Install.aspx.vb and the Upgrade class. These are used for creating the initial portal, users, etc.

Using those as a base, and a modified install template you could easily develop a page that builds out new portals.
