Hello,
I'm new to dnn development so I hope I'm missing something simple. I have created a simple compileed module that lists items and allows me to edit the list. It works perfectly in my development environment. It installs without a hitch in my test environment. But when I try to put the module on a page in the test environment I get this exception. What gives?

Error: Genre Manager is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: J:\VS 2\Websites\SongProp\Publish\DesktopModules\SongProp_GenreManager\ViewGenreItem.ascx(9): error BC30451: Name 'IsEditable' is not declared. ---> System.Web.HttpCompileException: J:\VS 2\Websites\SongProp\Publish\DesktopModules\SongProp_GenreManager\ViewGenreItem.ascx(9): error BC30451: Name 'IsEditable' is not declared. at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.CompileWebFile(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultInternal(VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithNoAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(String virtualPath) at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Skin.InjectModule(Control objPane, ModuleInfo objModule, PortalSettings PortalSettings) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

It seem that you unintentionally delete 'IsEditable' variable declartion.

Check it in ViewGenreItem.ascx

It can also be because the DotNetNuke.dll in your development environment is a later build version than that in your Test environment.

Check the versions of both the DLLs.

Make sure that you properly referenced the DotNetNuke library DLL (dotnetnuke.dll)
