My team relies heavily on DotNetNuke.  For every new release, I need to upgrade 5 instaces of DotNetNuke on different servers.  Even if we're not subscribers to the benefactor program, general public should be notified of any planned new releases.  Couldn't there be a mailing list to which people interested could subscribe to and that would notify us of upcoming releases?  Whatever the route, communication needs to be improved as this is a costly situation for certain organisations.

History tells us that there will always be a point release soon after any major release.

If you expect it, you won't be surprised by it and you won't waste time upgrading to a version that has not had adequate beta testing.

I thought that version 4.5 went through a few weeks of beta testing before being released to the general public.  I assumed that the purpose of this whole process was to release a stable version.

But you seem more experienced than me on that point. So in the future, I'll probably have to follow your advice, so that I don't find myself in that unfortunate situation again.

Thanks for your advise

To be honest, I am surprised that so many are updating so quickly.  Unless there is something in a new release that fixes something that I desperately need to have, I tend to wait a few weeks.  I'm only just updating to 4.4.1 in my production sites, and will probably move to 4.5.1 in four weeks or so, once I've seen other people's reactions on the forums as to how stable it is and whether I can live with whatevr bugs/limitations there may be.
