Ok, I developed a DNN solution on my local PC (DNN 4.4.1, SQL Server 2005, VS.NET 2005, XP PRO). It works well

Then I copy ALL files over to Server 2003 and the web site runs, but image paths are broken and menu items in the drop-downs are double (side-by-side)

Does the folder structure/hiearchy on the server have to mimick the development machine?

I have developed in INETPUB/wwwroot/nameOfMyAPP

On the server I want to use INETPUB\wwwroot\

Thanks for any feedback in advance,

Frank

Frank,

The folder structure needs to be the same but the root folder you place it in doesn't, so in your case I don't see why there would be a problem.

The problem with image paths maybe be the result of putting the dev copy in a subdirectory of the root and the deployed copy being at the root. For instance if your dev copy is at http://localhost/nameOfMyAPP and your deployed copy is at http://www.myapp.com the image links might be looking for that subfolder nameOfMyAPP. The best thing is to right click the broken image and look at the properties to see what path it's looking for and adjust accordingly.

Ok, I appreciate it. I made the folder hiearchy the same and it is working now.

Just to be sure, the folder names don't have to be the same do they?

Like, my development structure could be c:|DNNSite

but on the server, if I copy the files to say C;\webApp, the site should still work, right?

Thanks in advance again

Frank

Exactly, the root folders where they reside can be different but the folder structure within those base directories need to be the same.
